i would like an idea of approx how many are coming to our mini reunion at shellharbour workers club on 15th may remember it is open to all mighty 8th members and parteners lets make it a great day with as many people as possible

Hello y'all of the Mighty 8th,
I have been invited to deliver a speech at an ANZAC day luncheon with the title "My recollections of ANZAC Day". Of course, my/our first ANZAC day in uniform would feature - if only I could recall the event. 25 Apr 1964 was a Saturday - what was our involvement in ANZAC commemorations, if any, on that day? If anyone could help me I would be very grateful. The event would have been before I was introduced to the demon drink by Bones and, therefore, would have been quite a sober affair on my part!?

Mick, I might be wrong here, but I think I recall that those who wanted to attend the dawn service could arrange an early shake and go to one of two services - one up on Monument Hill in Freo, and the other at Kings Park in Perth. Most of us declined. I think there was a later service (combined religions) in the Drill Hall. I can't be too sure whether I have imagined this or not...Bugger!

the luncheon is on at the shellharbour workers club starting at 1130 on the 15th may which is a saturday hope to see as many people as possible it is not confined to south coast people but to anyone who wishes to come partners are also invited

Hi to all M8, have just read the message from Bill Kruse re the Government procrastinating over current and ex Defence Force personel about pensions against CPI etc. Why don't we inform all members of Parliament that they might not be there because of current, and ex servicemen and women. I live on personal super and part disability pension, but it sounds like the DFRB pension is not geared to CPI increases etc. Cheers Jok

Hi all
Dont know or cant remember who was on the 77 trip to the UK but if you were and went to the Isle of Capri and hired a large red convertible taxi-well its still going.Spoke to a guy that now has it and he said that the guy that use to have it (could of been his father)still remembers the 10 or so Australian sailors jumping in and being taken to a hillside cafe.("ah memories")

To all members of the Mighty 8th I apologise for not updating the intake website regularly during the past couple of months. I know Bob Green has sent me photos for inclusion (will get around to it after Christmas/New Year Bob!) and I have other things to publish also. Sarah and I have sold up in Canberra and moved to Tuross Head on the South Coast of NSW. We still have junk everywhere but I have now set up the computer area so I have no excuse not to keep on top of things in the New Year. Our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year go to you all - as JD says "stay safe and healthy". I hope to catch up with some of you during 2010.
