Hi all
Dont know or cant remember who was on the 77 trip to the UK but if you were and went to the Isle of Capri and hired a large red convertible taxi-well its still going.Spoke to a guy that now has it and he said that the guy that use to have it (could of been his father)still remembers the 10 or so Australian sailors jumping in and being taken to a hillside cafe.("ah memories")

Greetings to the M8.
On Thursday 18th Dave Morris will be dropping by my place to give me the banner of the M8.
I am aware that some are going to the west for the JRs Dedication.
Should you wish to take the banner, please contact me via email. I am loath to put my phone number, but if you email me I will give it to you or supply yours and I will contact you.
Regards to All

hi to all maybe at this time it would be fitting to have a meeting to elect a committee for the 50th reunion please contact either bob or myself 0414262420 with suggesstions where you would like to meet
|
Mulvi:
Rick, would be able to attend a 'get together' anytime after the 28th March. Weekend golf committments finish then. Perhaps we could have another 'mini-reunion' like our last one at Gerroa. Another venue, Shellharbour Workers ??. Regards to all the M8 and families.

Bob Green has pointed us to the Navy wesbite and the publication 'HMAS LEEUWIN: The Story of the RAN's Junior Recruits', written by RADM Brian Adams.
The publication can be downloaded from http://www.navy.gov.au/Publication:Papers_in_Australian_Maritime_Affairs_No._29 for those who are interested in reading the official version.
Bill H:
Yeah John, I read it a week or so ago - quite a few things different from our time though - but I guess most of our intake didn't contribute to the writing. Things such as the pay rates and leave etc. mainly.

To all members of the Mighty 8th I apologise for not updating the intake website regularly during the past couple of months. I know Bob Green has sent me photos for inclusion (will get around to it after Christmas/New Year Bob!) and I have other things to publish also. Sarah and I have sold up in Canberra and moved to Tuross Head on the South Coast of NSW. We still have junk everywhere but I have now set up the computer area so I have no excuse not to keep on top of things in the New Year. Our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year go to you all - as JD says "stay safe and healthy". I hope to catch up with some of you during 2010.
.
.
Bill H:
Good on you, John - was good to see you last week, and Fred was well on the ball yesterday. Have a great Christmas and that goes to all the mighty 8th and their families.
Bill and Alice.
|
HowieV:
Good, another convert to the beautiful South Coast of NSW. Still plenty of room for the rest of you not enjoying our little piece of paradise. We've been here nearly 11 years now John and still have jobs to do and boxes to unpack.

Would like to see if anyone will be available around christmas, to have drinks with my dad Gary Ashton on the Goldcoast. Kind of a suprise. So if you can please email me. So I can organise a venue and date. As he was not able to make reunion in Brisbane
Bill H:
Great to hear that Gary has surfaced. I spent a lot of time trying to find him a couple of years back - just to add him to our database. Have a great party, Rachael and, even though I wasn't one of his close friends at Leeuwin, I remember him well and wish him all the best.
|
barry lehmann:
Hi Rachael....Please give my best wishes to Gary...I think the last time I saw him he was driving trains in Sydney....would that be right??
cheers Barry Lehmann

Another Leeuwin milestone kicks over fot me today as it is the 45th "Anniversary" of the day I broke my neck at Port Beach. And a life changing event it turned out to be.
While I still have the noisiest neck in the Street, I'm sure glad to still be here and able to joke about it.
Cheers, Pete
Bill H:
Good on you, Pete. I am one who is quite happy you're here. Hope you are here longer than me. I was out at Port Beach (only for a few minutes, then went up to Cottesloe) on Saturday before last (37 degrees that day). Not a lot has changed with that beach in all this time, but I love the memories - a bit sadder for you though.

This is the photo Moses and Rick were trying to post - don't know what happened there, it should be a straight forward process to upload a photo when signing the GB.
Guy Wall:
Just click on it guys, it comes in in "glorious" living colour.
What are those girls thinking??
|
Pete:
Moses, I've often thought you could double as a look a like for Hugh Hefner. Now I'm sure of it, and Well Done !! Pete
